What can I use to put my trash in as an alternative to plastic garbage bags?

I started by giving up plastic grocery bags for Lent, and now I am considering applying this after Lent to my home trash cans.

What will be best in landfills to degrade? I was thinking about large potato sacks or something. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can put my household waste into, other than plastic bags?

I agree with the paper bags. That how we did it in the old days of aluminum garbage cans and trash barrels. Garbage was put out for the landfill and trash was burned.

I would agree with Paper bags, but at the same time, using paper bags is a bigger waste then using plastic bags becuase more of the World’s forests are destroyed in the process.

I’d recommend mesh sacks, similar to that of what oranges come in only, the holes are smaller. You could go with potatoe sacks also, but if you have something wet int he trash, its going to be a nasty job for whoever takes it out.

Another good idea, though long, is making a compost pile out of your garbage. It uses your trash, lessens the amounts of bags needed AND makes wonderful soil for your Garden come Spring time.

    I hope I helped! ^^
